A Celebration of Maggie McBride – NIHRF 2023

We at the Consortium formally dedicate the 2023 Northern Ireland Human Rights Festival in memory of our good friend and colleague Maggie McBride and send our best wishes and love to all her friends and family.

Maggie McBride was the Administrator at the Human Rights Consortium for over 16 years, from 2006 until her sudden death at the end of 2022.

Maggie was an amazing friend, colleague, mum and grandmother, but she was also a passionate and determined human rights advocate throughout her life. She has left an enduring legacy of friendship and compassion within the broad community of people in Northern Ireland who actively strive to make this a society based on human rights.

Maggie was instrumental in helping establish this festival and over the twelve years since it began, she encouraged many of the important linkages that have been made in the festival across themes like feminism, religion, discrimination, and she was a strong advocate of the fundamental overlaps between art, advocacy and human dignity.

The Human Rights Consortium asks friends and colleagues of Maggie’s to please join them for a family-friendly evening this Saturday 9th December from 5-7pm that will include music, light refreshments and an opportunity to celebrate Maggie for the incredible individual that she was.

If you are available to attend, then please RSVP by emailing aaron@humanrightsconsortium.org

Please also let them know if you have any specific dietary requirements.
