The Joint Committee is conducting an inquiry into the human rights implications of Brexit and issued a call for evidence.
Our submission looks at some key areas which the Committee should explore in more detail:
- The particular importance of human rights frameworks in Northern Ireland
- The invisibility of human rights in the wider discussions on the implications of Brexit by the Government
- The scope of rights currently protected by EU legislation
- The importance of EU protections in realising rights of minorities in Northern Ireland
- The specific role of the EU in the the context of devolved government in Northern Ireland
